Sarah Harmon's Trunk

This is a picture of Sarah Harmon's trunk which traveled with her as she crossed the plains. Sarah was the wife of Oliver Harmon. This is the smaller of two trunks she had,, which is in the possession of Linda Guymon Lovell. The other one is owned by my Uncle, Elton Harmon. After Oliver died in Nauvoo, she married Elijah Cheney.

The lamp to the right was made by her grandson, Lorenzo Barnes Harmon.

Ship Records For William Morgan

Have you ever wondered what it was like for your ancestes when they came by ship to America? I sure have, and it is sure great to find this kind of record even though it is not from your ancestry but others on the same ship.

I have found such a record of the ship James Pennell, the ship that my 3rd Great-Grandparents, William Morgan and his wife, Matilda, and daughter Agnes. Agnes married James Nathaniel Cook. To read this record click here

Fred Stagg

One of the greatest things about doing family history is the wonderful people you meet. This includes both the living and the dead. Some of the best friends I have are some of my extended family.

One of these is a wonderful gentleman named Fred H. Staggs. He has been a great help in the work of putting the Thomas Jefferson McClain family back together. Fred always had a wonderful story about everything that we talked about. He loved to talk about his family. He was so proud of his kids and grandkids. And he was one of the few people who knew about my Great-Great Grandmother, Mary Jerusha McClain Mooney.

Fred's daughter, Kathy, told me that her parents died 1 week apart, her daddy died on Dec. 15, 2004 and mother died Dec. 22, 2004. His wife had been sick for a long time and I was not able to get to know her. But from what Fred told me she was a wonderful lady.

James Nathaniel Cook

This is my Great-Great Grandfather James Nethaniel Cook. I have looked for a long time to find a history for James. Today I was going through some of my mothers things and found a letter from a James E Cook to my mother telling about his Father. Click here for his letter.

Harriet Neeley

This is my Great Great Grandmother Harriet Neeley Strong. She was the wife of William Strong.

For a long time we did not Know who this picture was of. Then one day I opened my book of Lovell pictures and one fell out right next to a group picture of William Strong's family. As close as I can tell the Harriet Neeley in the Strong family picture is the same person as in this one. I have showed it to several people and they all think the same as I do.
I have history of most of these people. My daughter is retyping them and putting them on CD so I can post them here. As soon as she gets them to me I will post them.
